CIRCOR Instrumentation’s unique ability to design, develop and manufacture products to meet specific industry requirements has been applied with great success to the Alternative Fuels industry, with the products of different divisions combined to produce state-of-the-art solutions to complex problems.

From simple fittings to complex manifolds and even complete assemblies, CIRCOR systems provide leak-tight high integrity and longevity of service life so that users receive the best possible value-for-money products.
CIRCOR has backed its commitment to this industry by investing heavily in personnel and design so that as requirements and standards evolve we continue developing the most innovative solutions available.
As active members of industry bodies, such as the ENGVA (European Natural Gas Vehicle Association), IANGV (International Association For Natural Gas Vehicles) and the NGVC (Natural Gas Vehicle Coalition), we make a positive contribution to ensuring that the safety and performance expected by this growing sector are continuously improved.
With its global distributor network and sales support, CIRCOR supports all activities at a local level irrespective of the location – from China and Korea, to Germany and the UK, Canada and the USA.
These are just some of the countries where CIRCOR products have been used effectively in the Alternative Fuels industry.

HISTORY
Hoke Controls’ involvement in the North American CNG industry goes back almost 20 years to the very early attempts to convert liquid fuel vehicles to a cleaner burning gaseous fuel, with the fast-moving period of 1990 to 1998 setting the pattern for success.
It was mostly small-scale R&D through 1990 but Hoke made a strong commitment to becoming the predominant player for CNG fuel systems components in 1991.
After starting to supply nozzles and receptacles in 1992, Hoke recognized that a small customer buying its GT4PSH-316 plugs for coalescing filters had the best product of its kind and took on selling the line in 1993.
A wholly owned division, Panels Plus, was formed in 1994 to assemble CNG fuel lines. Market growth in 1995 led to expansion outside California, with Panels Plus building control panels and other components for major manufacturers and Hoke producing the quarter-turn shutoff valves for the Ford Crown Victoria OEM program under a private label agreement.
Hoke started safety courses for customers, developed an Installer’s Guide for CNG Fuel Systems with Clean Air Partners in San Diego and became a member of the Natural Gas Vehicle Coalition (US).
By 1996 Hoke products were being used by many OEM customers in North America for their CNG vehicle as well as station applications. Panels Plus began fabricating all of the CNG fuel lines for Freightliner Custom Chassis trucks and made the first fill
panel in UPS’s CNG truck conversion program.
The world-wide market was addressed via Hoke Intercontinental (now known as Circor Instrumentation Ltd) in the UK, with membership of the AGA/CGA canvas committee and technical standards group for valve products for CNG vehicle and station use.
Highlights of 1997 included building turnkey fuel systems for a bus OEM in New Mexico and for a CNG tank maker’s bus contracts. Hoke Alternative Fuels Energy Group was recognized by the industry for its development of training standards and course certification.
1999 was a big year for Hoke’s Alternative Fuels Energy Group. Through acquisition, Circle Seal Controls’ technically advanced PRD was added to the Hoke product mix.
Continued growth in the Alternative Fuels market from that time has led to a point where it is now difficult to find any CNG application that does not have a product somewhere that is manufactured by a Circor Division i.e. Hoke Inc. or Circle Seal Controls Inc. continued>>>
CIRCOR Results

CIRCOR International Inc announced results for the six months ended June 30, 2002 showing revenues of $162 million and net income at $7.5 million. Despite difficult economic conditions, CIRCOR registered a sequential increase in revenues and added to the company’s record level of order backlogs during the second quarter. Much of this backlog represents large project orders scheduled for shipment during the remainder of 2002.

CIRCOR Chairman and CEO David A. Bloss Sr commented: “We remain cautious about any meaningful improvement in our market conditions in the next few quarters and are controlling our costs accordingly. Cash flow remained strong in the second quarter despite an increase in our inventories related to the project orders scheduled for shipment in the second half.”

“Our balance sheet now shows a net debt (net of cash) to total capitalization ratio of only 10%, as we remain poised to take advantage of acquisition opportunities when they arise.”
