Resistant
to mechanical stress and environmental abuse, the Circle Seal Controls
PRD thermally activated pressure relief valve is a 'true' safety device
offering failsafe venting, with its special eutectic material melting
consistently at a predetermined temperature to open the valve.
This
has been achieved by a design which reduces the stress on the eutectic
material. It is also claimed that, unlike some products, this material
will not restrict flow due to the lower temperatures experienced during
full flow.
The
valve has been developed mainly for use in compressed natural gas vehicles
and hydrogen transport applications, but also has a wide range of other
potential uses. Several outlet styles are available to accommodate many
different installation requirements.
A
particularly robust internal design and tank mounting attitude overcomes
a major concern of users in areas of extremely cold weather, as it is
far less likely to experience failure previously caused by water freezing
within the valve.
As
well as use with new fuel tanks, the PRD eutectic relief valve is expected
to find extensive application in replacing old technology within existing
fleets.
